Trump sinks U.S government into its worst partial closure

Share

The partial closure of the US government, Donald Trump, entered this Saturday on its twenty-second day, becoming the longest in the history of the United States.

The previous record goes back to the administration of former President William Clinton, whose closure of the government lasted 21 days, from December 1995 to January 6, 1996.

The current closure was decreed on December 22, 2018, after Republicans and Democrats did not reach a budget agreement in Congress because of President Trump’s demands regarding the financing of the border wall.

The current partial closure has left more than 800 thousand public workers unemployed temporarily and have cost the US economy more than 3.6 billion dollars, according to calculations of the credit rating agency S & P Global.
