Up to 110,000 passengers will be affected today by the strike of the security personnel, summoned by the union Verdi in the German airports of Düsseldorf, Cologne / Bonn, and Stuttgart, to demand wage improvements in the negotiation of the collective agreement.

So far, 370 of the 580 programmed departures and landings have been canceled at Düsseldorf Airport, while in Cologne / Bonn the amount goes to 131 of 200 flights and in Stuttgart, 142 of 270.

Last Monday, Verdi had summoned a partial strike of the security personnel of the Berlin airports of Schönefeld and Tegel forced to cancel the 8 percent of the programmed flights and caused alterations in numerous connections.

Verdi’s chief negotiator, Benjamin Roscher, warned that if there is no a better offer for the approximately 23,000 employees in the sector at German airports, more strikes cannot be ruled out.
