Shooting in Playa del Carmen ends with 7 deaths

It was after eight in the evening when two gunmen ran into the bar “Las Virginias”, located at the corner of Gavilanes Avenue (CTM Extension) with Pavo Real, in the second park on Villas del Sol, and opened fire with long weapons.

According to witnesses, several blasts were heard, followed by individual shots. Then, they got into a vehicle that was waiting for them outside the premises and they escaped with an unknown destination.

The attack sowed panic in the area, being in front of some mechanical games installed in an adjoining property next to Chedraui supermarket.

To the place arrived Federal and Municipal Police patrols, that surrounded the zone, while a growing group of curious, more than 200 people, observed attentively what happened.

Three ambulances arrived, taking one seriously injured, which was reported dead shortly after, while the paramedics of the other two were inside, allegedly attending to people.

It is indicated that six died on the spot and one more on the way or upon arrival at the hospital.
