McDonald’s has lost the legal use of the “Big Mac”

Share

The powerful McDonald’s restaurant chain has lost a legal battle that will cost them their flagship brand, Big Mac.

The legal muddle, initiated before authorities of the European Union by the chain of Irish restaurants Supermac’s, finalized giving the reason to the plaintiff and revoking the registry of the mark to McDonald’s because “they did not demonstrate the genuine use of the same one during the five years previous to the presentation of the case “, in 2017.

Although the powerful chain of fast food restaurants can still appeal, Supermac’s was pleased with the decision of the jury and informed that they are already planning to expand in the United Kingdom and Europe as the ruling allows them to use the name Big Mac in any of their products.

Until now, McDonald’s hasn’t made any statement about the issue.
