Tulum mayor says they are the first fully inclusive city in the state with the implementation of aids for those with disabilities.
Municipal president, Víctor Más Tah says Tulum has implemented special aids to facilitate those with disabilities including a fully inclusive beach and special traffic lights for the blind and those with visual weakness.
He says that the city has already installed four acoustic traffic lights for the visually impaired and that additional features for the disabled such as a tactile guide can be found Tulum Avenue, as well as special facilities at Playa Maya.
Mas Tah says the special aids are thanks to governor Carlos Joaquín González, through the Ministry of Public Works and the State DIF, who he reported, pledged to invest with city council in the development of aids for the disabled to improve living conditions.
He says the added aids will allow both citizens and visitors to Tulum to enjoy the city and its features now that it is an inclusive city.
Secretary of Public Works, William Conrado Alarcón, said that the joint investment of city council and the state will amount to 3.7 million pesos “but now this city, which is known internationally, will be on par in terms of inclusion that any modern city in the world and will be for people with disabilities to enjoy and live in safe conditions.”
