The Maya Train project is a development work whose social benefit compensates the environmental impact, says the director of FONATUR, Rogelio Jiménez Pons.
The construction of the first section, starting from Palenque to Mérida, is on its way to the rehabilitation of the train tracks that already had permission to use, where a freight train that dates from 70 years ago circulated. The integration plan and all the corresponding studies to evaluate the viability of the project are still in the process of being bid for its preparation.
