The Hotel Association of Riviera Maya said that with the announced bankruptcy of Thomas Cook, the priority will be to support Cancun, Riviera Maya tourists in returning to their countries.

The association says they have been working with British authorities, along with other nations, to coordinate the necessary travel plans avoid further damage to the more than 400 tourists left stranded in the Mexican Caribbean.

“We are working with the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to help Thomas Cook customers, who are staying in our facilities, with the problems they face returning to their countries. The first thing is to support them in their return. Regarding the bankruptcy, we will take legal actions, but for the moment, the priority is the guests,” said Conrad Bergwerf, president of la Asociación de Hoteles de la Riviera Maya.

According to information provided in Terminal 4, the bankruptcy of Thomas Cook affected scheduled flights to Manchester and London on Monday. The first 1:00 p.m. flight began to document UK passengers that needed to be flown home with Spanish airline Wamos.
