Cancun – The National Meteorological Service reports that the month of August saw several heat records broken around Mexico, making it the warmest month on record since 1953, with Quintana Roo making the top three list of hottest states.
El Servicio Meteorológico Nacional (SMN) says that during August, the average temperature in Mexico was 27 degrees Celsius, a 3.3 ° C increase in the country’s average daytime temperature for that month. The nearest record was in August of 2015, when SMN registered an average temperature 26.4 ° C.
The average daytime temperature for Quintana Roo for the month of August this year was 30.4 °C, putting the state in the top three hottest along with Coahuila at 30.5 ° C and Tamaulipas with 31.6 ° C.
Two record-breaking temperatures for the month of August 2019 were recorded in the municipalities of Eduardo Neri, Guerrero with 47.5 ° C on August 3 and Aldama, Chihuahua with 45.0 ° C recorded on August 6.
El Servicio Meteorológico Nacional reports that so far, each of the months of 2019 have registered an above average temperature.
