PepsiCo tests refreshments deliveries with robots on campus

PepsiCo is testing ways to deliver refreshments directly to customers.

The snack and beverage producer will start making deliveries with autonomous robots on Thursday at Pacific University in Stockton, California. Students can order Baked Lay’s chips, SunChips or sparkling water through an app, and then meet the six-wheeled robot at more than 50 locations on campus.

Other companies have used autonomous vehicles to deliver food. Last month, the supermarket operator Kroger announced it would begin delivering provisions in a driverless vehicle from a store in Scottsdale, Arizona.
