Today, streaming giants (such as Netflix, Spotify or Amazon Prime, among others) have made free trials their main tool and hook to grow their subscriber base, once the period is over, the user is charged directly if this is not unsubscribed. Now, MasterCard will prevent that from happening and will not release the subscription payment until the client authorizes it.
The company considered that this practice is increasingly widespread and is “frustrating and expensive for both consumers and their banks.”
