A 10-year-old girl had to be rushed to the hospital after receiving a Manta Ray sting on her left foot. The young girl was reportedly on Playa del Niño in Puerto Juárez when the incident occurred.
Reports say the young girl was in the water and accidentally stepped on the ray without noticing. In defense, the ray stung her on her foot.
An ambulance arrived and transferred the little girl, in the company of her family, to the General Hospital of Cancun.
Manta Rays, just like their sting ray cousins, have a long whip-like tail but do not have a poisonous tail stinger like many of their relatives.
