Bus accident near Real del Catorce leaves 38 people injured

REAL DEL CATORCE, SAN LUIS POTOSI | A tour bus overturned in Real de Catorce, San Luis Potosí. The vehicle was transporting people from Saltillo, Coahuila, and its accident left at least 38 people injured, seven of them seriously.

The State Coordination of Civil Protection reported, through a statement, that people with serious injuries were transferred in an emergency vehicle to the General Hospital of Matehuala, while the 38 injured are treated in the hospital of clinic 14 of the Mexican Institute of Social Security ( IMSS ). ), the Institute of Security and Social Services for State Workers ( ISSSTE ), and the Altiplano Medical Center in Matehuala.

The tourist bus suffered an accident at kilometer four of the paved road to Real de Catorce before reaching Highway 62, at the height of Las Majadas. The unit left the road, overturned, and fell into a ravine of about ten meters. A rescue operation was deployed at the site with two Red Cross ambulances, a Matehuala Civil Protection ambulance, and two more from the municipalities of Vanegas.
