AMLO’s government gives the first blow against money laundering

The Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) filed with the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) the first complaint for money laundering, reported the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP).
In a brief statement and without giving further details or revealing the names of the alleged money launderers, he said that it was against members of organized crime.
For the FIU, Fernando Nieto was appointed head of the anti-money laundering unit, a designation that for the first time since the FIU was created in 2004, will have to be ratified by the Chamber of Deputies.
He stressed that the administration of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has reiterated as a priority the fight against the financial structures of organized crime and this action is a solid step in the pacification and welfare of the nation.
