Cancun: sargassum stops at various points in the hotel zone

Sargassum reaches the beaches of Cancun en masse. The office of the Federal Maritime Terrestrial Zone registered with photographs large patches of macroalgae at kilometers 14 and 15 of the hotel zone.
In total, in the state of Quintana Roo, the Sargasso Monitoring Network of Quintana Roo reported 33 points with excessive overloading of this algae, especially in Xcalak. For its part, the Secretary of the Navy informs that the Mexican Caribbean will be in an alert condition with the probability of abundant calls.
“Three groups of sargassum are delimited due to their maximum probability of causing landfalls on the coast of the state of Quintana Roo and Isla de Cozumel; the first, located approximately 30 kilometers south of the island of Cozumel (92 tons), will continue its entry into the Cozumel Canal in the next few hours, adding to the calls that occur to the south and east of Isla Cozumel, as well as, in the vicinity of Puerto Aventuras, Playa de Carmen and Punta Maroma in the course of the next four days, ”the entity reported.
Likewise, the sargassum recall will affect the vicinity of Tulum in the next three days, also Mahahual. In total, about 1,975 tons of sargassum is expected to reach the beaches of Quintana Roo in the coming days.
As reported by REPORTUR.mx, at the end of May the Mexican Secretariat of the Navy reported that there were already 10 thousand 462.76 tons of sargassum that they had collected on the high seas and on the beaches of seven municipalities of Quintana Roo, so far this year.
The entity explained at the time that monitoring overflights of the macroalgae were being maintained, the operation of 29 boats, of which 11 are sargassum, an oceanic sargassum ship and four sweepers, plus 300 naval elements that support the collection of sargassum on the beaches affected from the municipalities of Isla Mujeres, Benito Juárez (Cancún), Puerto Morelos, Cozumel, Solidaridad (Playa del Carmen), Tulum and Othón P. Blanco (Chetumal).
